NIBE – Action not words!
Do we make a difference? Will we continue to make a difference?
We hope that our work so far demonstrates that with your continuing help we can indeed make a difference. We have already demonstrated that we listen to people’s concerns and then seek to do something about it.
At our launch event we were told three key issues needed addressing. These were:
- helping those in need,
- giving meaningful opportunities to apprentices
- the need for businesses to pay their suppliers promptly
As a direct result we engaged apprentices from Gateshead to help design our website, are working with the Newcastle Journal to launch a campaign on prompt payment called ‘Pay Fair’ and have connected businesses with the the People’s Kitchen in Newcastle who provided material benefits to those in need.
Many companies and individuals take all sorts of action to improve ethical behaviour in their workplace and also engage with the communities they serve. Through collaborative working we are pleased to share their good practice and are not seeking to duplicate any existing work. Our role at NIBE is simply to act as an overarching body to whom others can turn for advice, a conduit to for sharing knowledge and a place to run and promote events around the subject of Business Ethics in the North East region.
